Alex is an illustrator and ceramicist based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. She explores the process of image making through ceramic objects, creating both functional and decorative pieces. Her creations are heavily influenced by folk art, animals and the work of South African artist Hylton Nel. Recent clients include collaborations with Anthropologie and the Hepworth gallery, Wakefield.

"I enjoy using Potclays White Casting Slip 160-0200 because I know how my underglazes and clear glaze are going to react to the clay. It's a material that I've become very familiar and comfortable with over the last few years. Most of what I make is handbuilt and decorated using underglazes with a transparent glaze on top, some pieces are slipcast using a plaster mould. I bisque fire to 1000c and glaze fire to 1100c
