Whether you are mass-producing ceramics or working on large-scale ceramic projects, an industrial kiln is essential. At Potclays, we offer made-to-order industrial kilns tailored to your precise specifications. Our robust solutions are engineered for high-volume ceramic production. Discover how an industrial kiln from Potclays can revolutionise your production process.
What Is an Industrial Kiln Used For?
Industrial kilns are ideal for use in settings such as universities, art studios, and ceramic institutions, facilitating high-temperature processing of various ceramics like earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. They support diverse firing techniques including bisque and glaze firings, making them versatile tools in ceramic manufacturing.
What Is the Difference Between a Plug & Go Kiln and an Industrial Kiln?
Plug & Go kilns are compact and designed for personal or small-scale use, typically operating on standard household electricity. In contrast, industrial kilns are larger and are built for continuous or high-volume production. They often require a three-phase power supply and feature advanced control systems plus higher temperature capabilities.
How To Prepare My Workspace for an Industrial Kiln?
Ensure proper ventilation and that the floor is strong enough to support the kiln’s weight. The kiln should be positioned at least 250mm from the nearest wall and 750mm from the ceiling. To facilitate servicing, allow 500mm of space behind the kiln and a gap on one side at the rear of the kiln. The wall isolator (power switch) must also be easily accessible.
How Do I Maintain an Industrial Kiln?
Proper cleaning and routine maintenance are key to keeping your industrial kiln in optimal condition. Routine maintenance includes checking heating elements and electrical connections, inspecting the thermocouple, cleaning kiln shelves, and ensuring door seals remain intact. Regular servicing maintains efficiency and prolongs the kiln’s lifespan.
