Jasmina is a ceramist based in Birmingham. She creates one off sculptural vessels and forms inspired by nature.
The silhouettes of shells and underwater creatures inspire the shapes of her vessels whilst, the ripples left by receding tide on a sandy beach and the rhythmic gradation of the beach arranged in carefully sorted bands, influence the surface quality of her work. The pieces are hand built using coils and the surfaces textured to create different levels and depths. These are enhanced by the subsequent use of oxides and dry glaze after the bisque firing. The dry glaze is applied in layers to produce a range of colours, from blue and green to more earthy hues giving the vessels an organic and aged appearance.
