"The soft nature of clay is combined with harsh imagery inspired by esoteric subject matter, making for a conflict ridden relationship - Borderlining between functional as well as decorative objects.Out of all the clays I have previously tried, I have never felt the same connection that I do while using Potclays 1109. It is soft enough to centre quickly on the wheel, yet sturdy and adaptable enough to hold more complicated shapes or even smaller sculptural work. The flecks add another level of texture that nicely burns through the glazes that I use and overall makes it a hard combo to beat. I bisque fire my greenware at 950 degrees celsius, to finally glaze and decorate my pieces using cobalt oxide in preparation for the final firing at 1240 degrees."
